Hello, And Thank You
For Visiting My Web Site!
My name is Linda Augustine,
and I pride myself on being a reputable
breeder of quality Maltese dogs. As a
dedicated fancier of this noble little breed,
I have a vested interest of the heart to see
that it is protected and promoted thru
judicous breeding practices, responsible
show ring exhibition, and, when necessary,
supported rescue efforts.
With these things being paramount, my primary
focus is on the love and care received by each
and every little Maltese Dog living in my home.
As cherished members of my family, they are
NEVER kept in kennels, and Champions,
retirees, puppies, and all others alike share a
warm and loving family environment - as should
EVERY dog.
I first became interested in Maltese Dogs when,
working as a postal carrier, I spotted the most
beautiful little dog I'd ever seen while delivering
mail! The dog was, of course, a Maltese, and
I was forever in love! I adopted my first show
dog, Precious Sophia, and she took Winners
Female at our very first show! When she then
went on to take a five point major reserve,
I was hooked!
Sophia gave me one boy puppy in her
first litter. He grew up to become my
first home bred champion,
Ch Augustine's Alban Legend, and the
sire of my next winning male, "Tigger",
better known as Ch. Augustine's Alban Legacy.
Tigger was ranked the number two winning Maltese
in Canada in 2002, and ranked number seven winning
Maltese in the US in 2003. He gave me my biggest
thrill in the show ring the day he took a five point
major! Following in the family tradition, Tigger's
daughter, Ch. Augustine's All Spice, then finished
her own championship handily in only nine shows!
The judicious effort made to select a particular
Maltese to be part of my breeding program
includes studying pedigrees, health checks
and genetic considerations, show ring exhibition,
and the type of personality matching that can
only be discerned thru knowing each dog as an
individual in a home life setting. My breeding
program is small, and my adoption requirements
are high. My puppies come with a legally binding
contract which guarantees their health, and
provides that they will be returned to me should
their carefully selected adoptive families
ever need or desire to no longer keep them.
Augustine's Maltese is located in historic
central New York, about thirty minutes from
Syracuse University. When they're not
"hamming it up" in the show ring or
languishing on the sofa, my dogs enjoy
romping the scenic countryside on
beautifulOneida Lake.
With my first decade in the Maltese fancy now
behind me, I am honored to say that I have twice
been invited to the Eukanuba Classic with an
Augustine's dog, and awarded the
Bred By Exhibitor medal from the AKC.
Being that my dogs are always owner handled,
(I don't believe in hiring professionals to show
my babies!) these rewards are especially
exciting for me! I feel very fortunate with my
success in the show ring, but my first love is
the dogs themselves, and with that, it seems,
the rest comes easy!
